Do you remember the day the face and sound of music changed forever?
February 9th, 1964. Ed Sullivan introduced the Beatles to America and music as we knew it became something more, something vital. Beatlemania and the coming British Invasion struck everywhere and left no stone unturned. We were all affected by it and the music gave us new direction and new dreams.
Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the 1960s, Jim and Don Potter were like every other kid. Yet, on the morning of February 10th, 1964, they were different. They, along with their comrade in arms, Nic Baker, were infected by the dreams that the British Invasion was handing out so effortlessly. In the coming year, the boys were brought together through brotherhood, friendship, and music.
This is their story.
Like many bands at the time, NB3 freely ‘borrowed’ styles and sounds from the early music of such groups as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Animals, Kinks—groups that created the music we grew up with. We wrote and arranged music that immediately returns the listener to a time that was so exciting, both socially and musically.
